The top objective of the bookseller secondhand department at Chapters is to ensure customer satisfaction by engaging them with pride, passion, and care. The bookseller maintains a well-organized sales floor, assists customers in finding items, placing orders, and processing transactions. They represent the business and represent the company values.

The booksellers work with the community to purchase secondhand books and maintain a customer-friendly secondhand book Trade In program. They handle daily operations, such as book sales, new book receiving, book returns, buybacks, trade-ins, shelf organization, and delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate should have a love of reading, be able to work quickly, be patient with customers, and be proficient in using the epos system. The position requires a personable, detail-oriented, and multitasking personality, as well as the ability to carry boxes!

Qualifications include understanding secondhand books and pricing, strong communication skills, retail experience, and comfort with Microsoft Office and Google Drive. The store is open Monday-Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 12-6pm and the candidate must be flexible to support these times.

New Bookseller Full Time Position

Chapters Bookstore is seeking a bookseller to ensure customer satisfaction and uphold company values. They must possess a love of reading across all genres, be able to work quickly, be patient with all customers, and become proficient in using the epos system.

The company prefers applicants with past retail and bookselling expertise, but is open to training new hires with outstanding communication skills, friendly attitudes, and flexible availability. The bookseller must have a passion for books, a hunger for knowledge, and a passion to share knowledge. They must be dedicated to achieving goals, take initiative, and be a team player.

Basic procedures for the bookseller include working on a till, processing deliveries, and shelving books. Training will be provided to ensure compliance and a high level of work. The requirements include providing excellent customer service, upholding good standards, arranging displays, delivering commercial offers, displaying commitment, encouraging learning, flexibility, and initiative, managing time and priorities, strong communication skills, retail experience, and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.

Chapters Bookstore is open Monday-Saturday from 9.00am to 6pm, Sunday from 12-6pm, and the candidate must be flexible to the store's opening times. They must also be able to lift heavy boxes (it's a secret but books are heavy!) and have a love of books and reading.
