Description
As a Marketing Manager at RJ Julia Booksellers, you will play a pivotal role in executing our marketing objectives to attract new customers, retain existing customers, and increase sales and loyalty by bringing people into the store(s) and on-line in a profitable way.
Your creativity and strategic mindset will drive our digital and traditional marketing efforts to promote our bookstore's mission and events effectively.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technology skills, along with highly effective writing skills are required, with an emphasis on relationship building and maintaining the standard of excellence unique and customary to RJ Julia Booksellers.
Responsibilities:
- Execute comprehensive retail marketing strategies to drive store traffic and sales.
- Collaborate with store departments to create compelling store events, promotions, displays, and campaigns.
- Find opportunities to create unique stories that resonate with our community.
- Increase store traffic through community engagement.
- Oversee, manage, and lead four department staff.
- Manage the creation of marketing collateral (signage, flyers, and promotional materials)
- Oversee digital marketing initiatives (social media campaigns, email marketing campaigns; SEO; paid ads) to drive online and in-store traffic.
- Analyze sales and customer data to optimize marketing strategies and improve campaign performance.
- Ensure brand consistency across all messaging and store-branded merchandise.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay informed about retail industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in marketing.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Marketing Manager or in a similar role; ideally in a retail environment. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and customer behavior.
- Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative and effective marketing campaigns.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines; prioritize deadlines appropriately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be a proven highly motivated, self-directed individual.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
- Familiarity with retail software and analytics tools.
- Passion for retail and a customer-centric mindset is a must. Familiarity with the overall business of book publishing a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Comfortable walking/standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing more than 30 lbs.
- Occasional travel may be required, including between our two Connecticut locations (Madison and Middletown)
