Role Overview:
As a Lead Bookseller, your role will involve a mix of leadership, customer service and sales. The primary responsibility is assisting customers, but you will also take a lead role in guiding and mentoring team members. Additionally, you may have ownership of 1 – 2 functional areas, such as training, fulfillment, on-line orders, inventory, and/or events.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Ensure exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers and ensuring a positive shopping experience.

· Serve as a team lead and resource to booksellers, assisting with onboarding and ongoing coaching to create a positive and welcoming environment.

· Provide knowledgeable recommendations and answer inquiries about book content, authors, and genres.

· Handle customer complaints and ensure prompt resolution to maintain customer satisfaction.

· Handle cash management procedures and ensure accuracy in cash handling to include additional opening and closing responsibilities.

· Ensure the organizational standards of the store, including book and merchandise displays, are maintained.

· Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals.

· Participate in team meetings.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Previous retail or customer service experience required; prior bookstore experience preferred.

  • Experience as a team lead in a retail setting preferred.
  • Experience with POS system preferred.
  • Passion for books and literature; interest in romance literature preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer and cash handling skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
