We are looking for a head book buyer to curate a dynamic inventory for our vibrant bookstore and community center that caters to our customers’ needs with warmth, expertise and radical hospitality.

Position Description:

As Godmother’s Head Book Buyer, you will help us create a captivating selection and foster an environment that makes everyone feel we have something for them and keeps folks coming back again and again.

Job Responsibilities:

• Dive into publisher catalogs and help us carefully curate titles to be ordered.
• Order our beloved titles and monitor processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Utilize reporting systems to analize turns and maximize profitablility
• Collaborate with publishing representatives to review front list and backlist orders/promotions
• Oversee subscriptions and membership programs
• Oversee Special Orders including, educational sales and event book orders
• Make a high standard of customer service mission one, fostering an atmosphere where bookworms feel at home and new readers are in an excited pursuit of discovery.
• Manage time, inventory and budgets efficiently and on deadline.
• As a compassionate problem-solver, you'll contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment.
• Maintain captivating merchandising and displays that transform the store into a land of discovery.
• Attend relevant book fairs.
• Stay abreast of industry news and trends, keeping us in the loop on all things bookish.
• Share our love of books and authors, the most important spell you'll cast every day!

Qualifications

• 3+ years Book Buying experience required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Salary & Benefits:

• Full-Time Salaried Position ranging from $70-85K per year plus discretionary bonus
