Description
Title: Director of Events
Location: McNally Jackson Seaport with flexibility to work at all bookstore locations
Hours: 40 hours, Full-time, M-F with ability to work some nights and weekends
Pay: Range begins at $60k based on experience
Supervisor: Sarah McNally, Owner; Allison Glasgow, Director of Operations

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Director of Events should actively work to increase event-based revenue from book sales or
sales of online seminar tickets. The Director of Events will - - - - - - - - - -
Manage communication with publishers, magazines, authors, and institutions for the
purpose of programming events
Create events and happenings independent of author participation
Conceive of online seminars and find and engage seminar leaders
Work with our inhouse design team on marketing materials
Collaborate with General and Winebar Management team at our Seaport location to
ensure excellence of event experience in the store
Manage and schedule Events Hosts and an Events Assistant for everything pertaining to
RSVPs, physical setup, and author hosting
Conduct outreach and foster new relationships with authors, publishers, and institutions
Fill in events grids for the publishers, requesting authors for upcoming seasons
Oversee the ordering, receiving and returning of books required for any programming
Compose and publish event copy with descriptions for our website and newsletter
This position is considered a support role for all bookstores and may be called upon as
supplemental help for additional bookstore locations in a support capacity, as needed.
Qualifications:
● Must be able to lift 40lbs and be comfortable moving furniture as needed for event setup
and breakdown
● Extensive knowledge of contemporary literature, publishing, and the book industry
● IBIDie experience a plus
