Description
House of Books is hiring a Children's Specialist to develop and lead all of the bookstore's family-oriented efforts, in a town with a literary, arts-oriented, and engaged population.
The House of Books Children's Specialist will be the store's point of contact and front-facing employee in directing and growing our Little House of Books brand, connecting with customers, families, and local businesses. Whoever takes on this role will also have the opportunity to interface with publishers about new releases, author events, and marketing plans. In short, we are looking for somebody who can both maintain our current brand and also expand it.
Responsibilities will include:
- Doing the primary stocking of the kids sections of House of Books, including frontlist orders with sales reps and also restocks
- Inventing and hosting kids programming in the bookstore, with authors and community partners
- Recommending books not only to customers but also internally, to staff, to generate employee knowledge and even excitement

Anyone hired for this job will need to work independently and have a great deal of drive to oversee and create opportunities, but will also work in concert with the store's General Manager. This is NOT a remote position, although some remote work is possible.
